[POC] Career or family. How about both?

Raising a kid is a tough job. Raising twins, even more so. Maria does a wonderful job with her daughters, without sacrificing her professional aspirations – she leads our Linz location, works as a requirements engineer and further pushes herself to become a scrum master. Does her day have 34 hours?

Changing the trajectory

Maria spent her childhood in one of the most beautiful parts of Austria – the Salzkammergut region. Just like many of her friends, she focused on tourism in high school, but soon she realized that IT is what draws her. To switch her career path she moved to Linz for her university studies and shortly after she got her diploma, she started to gain professional experience as an IT project leader.

After years of professional life she began to wish for a new place. A place that would foster flexibility and appreciate her work. A place that would enable her to be there for all the important moments of her daughters’ lives. And that was when she learned about Cloudflight. She joined and never looked back.

Raising twins and building a career

As a requirements engineer Maria is in contact with customers and strives to understand their needs. She loves the role, because she is constantly challenged to think outside of the box and often gets to create brand new, innovative solutions. Besides working as an requirements engineer, she took over the responsibilities of the Linz location lead, taking charge of the complete renewal of our biggest office yet and of bringing people together. And because all of this is somehow not enough, Maria is now getting experience as a scrum master.

The secret? She can change her weekly working hours any time to adapt to her family’s calendars. The working schedules are also very flexible, both in time and place. Any overtime hours? Let’s use them as a time off to enjoy the moments that matter the most. Maria also finds open and transparent communication with her teammates extremely important to set the right boundaries. And last but not least, delegation of tasks and cooperation are crucial to never get overwhelmed. Maria, you are a real inspiration, thank you!
